MAXIMIZING RESOURCES AVAILABLE WHEN THE COMPUTER FIRST BOOTS

When your computer is first turned on it's possible for several programs to start up in the background in an attempt to make themselves more readily available to you should you decide to run them. Each program in this state is using some of your computer's available resources. If a computer has several programs starting like this it's possible that a significant amount of your computer's resources are being used and so are unavailable for you to accomplish the tasks you wish to. By stopping these programs from starting automatically when your computer starts up you will be freeing those resources which will translate into an appreciable increase in the performance of your computer.

To Minimize Starting Programs

Let's take a look at the programs that are currently running in the background on your computer. Left click on the Start button in the bottom left corner of your screen and then left click on Run. A small window will open with a text box that will allow you to type something. There may be something in there already. If so simply delete whatever is in there and in its place type MSCONFIG. Once you have typed this click on OK. A window will open with several tabs across the top. Left click on the tab titled Startup. In this window you will see several lines with a box at the left of each line. These boxes will either have a check mark in them or they will be empty. The boxes that have check marks in them indicate that this program is pre-started every time you start your computer. You will want to remove as many of these check boxes as possible because for each box that you uncheck you will be adding more resources for your computer to use. It's possible to uncheck every single box, but there are a few that Two Techs recommends for you to leave checked.

Any lines that refer to your virus protection program Any line referring to the Registry Task Monitor System Tray Power Profile

After making these changes click on the Apply button and then click on OK. You will be prompted to restart your computer. Say Yes and let the computer reboot.
