Getting Rid Of A Virus Or Spyware
Resolving an infection on a computer usually requires multiple steps and those steps depend on the type of infection and the severity of the infection. There are generally a few steps that in most cases will clean the infection. One of the first things to do is to look at the processes currently running to see if you can detect a process that would belong to the infection. By ending that process a significant amount of control can be obtained. Another step is to clean out the temp folders on the computer both through Windows and by using DOS commands. With these two goals achieved it is usually then possible to install any needed anti-virus and/or anti-spyware programs. By then running these programs the infection can be discovered and either quarantined or deleted. Many times an infection will require additional techniques that are specific to the computer or the infection. With over 11 years of experience Two Techs has the knowledge to be able to efficiently and expertly remove any infections that may be on your computer.   Ending a Controlling Process
One key way to find an end a controlling process in Windows is by using the Task Manager. Right click the Task Bar and left click on Task Manager. In the window that opens click on the Processes tab. Examine the processes listed here to see if you can identify a problem process. When you find it select that process and click on End Process at the bottom of this window. When you turn off the correct process you should immediately experience an improvement in performance. But you haven't gotten rid of the problem yet. You must continue in the process to be able to scan the computer with the appropriate software and control any problems found.

  Cleaning Temp Folders
Another important step to take is to clean the Temp folders in Windows. Under your User Profile you will find a Temp folder and a Temporary Internet Files folder. Delete everything that you can in both of these folders. Also delete the contents of these same named folders for every User Account on the computer. Finally clean out the contents of the folder at C:\Windows\Temp. Beyond that duplicating this process by using DOS commands helps by cleaning out additional files and folders not seen in Windows.

  Installing and Running Software
A critical step is to install appropriate software that will scan your computer for both viruses and spyware. All of these programs should be installed, updated and ran to discover and control any infections on the computer. Once the infection is under control an ongoing maintenance schedule of cleaning Temp folders and running anti-virus and anti-spyware programs should be performed on a weekly basis to keep the computer clean.

  If More Is Needed
Removing an infection from a computer in general is a fairly straight-forward three-part step as outlined above. However infections are constantly becoming more and more resistant to removal. It may be necessary to use additional steps to be able to gain control of the infection. With over 11 years of experience we can remove a typical infection efficiently and quickly and also have the knowledge to be able to effectively resolve more complex situations.
